Midwest

What’s up my non-coast, non-mountain peeps? Let’s get together and canoe!

Boring and dead? you must be in lower michigan. I loved northern lower michigan, up there in the traverse bay. How about scuba diving the the old copper people’s caves?

Or maybe we can craft a gathering, or even one of these camps. I’m in Indiana, three hours south of Chicago.

Let me know.

so did I, lower Michigan, especially suburbia usually seems dead -_-

Hey we’ve almost got a crew here, any other closet midwesterners? Take a look on the google maps. IN the midwest, in Indiana, you’ll find a huge postage stamp of forest. I live minutes away form that postage stamp. Notice the hand that looks like a hand picking up a basketball? those are the rivers I love to speak of; the source of my food and my life, the Wabash Valley.

There literally an unlimited amount of things you can do in a healthy eco-system.

I’m over here in Missouri, specifically st. louis. Indiana is a bit far for me at the moment, but who knows when that may change?

I am in Ohio, Cincinnati… just moved back home from Portland, OR! Am trying to search for similar people/organizations around here but am having a hard time. I am regretting not getting involved with the “Scouts” in Portland before moving back home… but am hoping to find similar people around here!

ah… someone else in the buckeye state…

i’m (mostly) in columbus, tho’

I have Minnesota roots. If anyone wants more information about living within the ecosystem in northern MN, I can try to help.

I lived in Columbus for a year before moving to Portland. Got a bunch of friends there, and I could see how it’s a better atmosphere than Cincinnati for this sort of thing. Do you know of anything going on (meetings, classes, organizations) in Ohio? I am just starting to learn about edible wild plants in this area, got a few books to start with. Wish I would have paid attention when I lived here all my life up to moving to Portland, but that city really got me interested in it all…

i’ve been getting some online resources together here

there’s actually a surprising amount of info “out there”, just gotta really look for it

actually, I’m going to stay with a friend in Columbus for a couple of weeks before I take off to New Orleans. I’ll be available to get together after Monday, until Thanksgiving, if you guys want to go out and see what’s there. Also, I could hand-deliver those seeds, sorry I haven’t had the money for postage, but I have kept your address in my wallet! It would be nice to get out once and a while during all my research leading up to my new position.

cool, let me know if there’s any particular time that’s good for you

yeah, i have the yucca seeds together (actually, i have the autumn olive seeds together too, but i left them a couple hours away :() just haven’t sent them yet

yeah, I’m not at that address anymore. send me a PM with your phone number, and I’ll give you a ring mpnday or so. (I think my friend and I are going to go camping this weekend.)

I wonder if there’s enough of us 'round here to plan a meetup? that would be really great, maybe sometime in the spring/summer… just an initial thought…

let’s do something maybe in a couple of weekends? I’m leaving for New Orleans after Thanksgiving.

Hey Tony! How long are you going ot be gone? Are you moving for good? I plan on doing a lot of activities in the spring/summer as far as get-togethers, gardening, foraging, primitve living classes, etc. Will you be back then?

it’s a minimum of a two-year plan, but maybe I might come back early if I’m successful and able to bring the technology back up the river. if there is a midwest rewild camp sometime during the summer, maybe I can come back and camp with ya’ll!

Yeah maybe a ReWild Midwest gathering can be pulled together…

minnesotan here.

hah well I’m back in MI for 3 week… woo snow!
Don’t get that where I am in WA/
