Once upon a time, I was in school. My literature professor wrote on the chalkboard:

   Modernism          |      Post-modernism

                            |

Then he started to fill it in:

   Modernism          |      Post-modernism

                            |
  The world is         |
    in pieces.           |
                            |
           :'(              |
                            |
                            |

Next:

   Modernism          |      Post-modernism

                            |
  The world is         |           The world is
    in pieces.           |             in pieces.
                            |
           :'(              |                  :)
                            |
                            |

Apparently, this is a common joke among humanities scholars. :slight_smile:
