Southern New England Rewilding Workshop and Meet-up

This Friday (October 3rd) I’ll be holding a workshop and meet up, at which I plan to explain the hows and whys of rewilding to (hopefully) a handful of interested locals. The tentative location is a coffee house, so that people can come meet complete strangers in a safe environment, and because I work best when highly caffeinated. I think I’ve already invited most of the New Englanders on this site to my Yahoo! group, but just in case here’s an announcement.

At this point, the structure I’m thinking of following in presenting goes something like this:

-Review civilized myths of hunter-gatherer living, then correct them

-Go over the personal benefits of rewilding and primitive living, such as health, food quality, more leisure time, egalitarian social structures

-Explain why agriculture leads to the endless need to expand, kills the environment, and leads to hierarchies

-Methods for rewilding, including physical technology, horticulture and permaculture, etc.

-Talk briefly about ideas of primitive purism, not being a hypocrite, and stuff like that

That’s basically what my outline looks like right now, and obviously there’s a lot to talk about at each of those points.
