Question: Do long-haul require recurve?

I drew a bow full draw 28"the other day made from the limb of an Osage orange tree 48" long with a slight reflex. Six layers of deer sinew glued on with hide glue and a rawhide (deer) cover. The Bow is 25 years old and was made by my father to show me how. I warmed it up before drawing it and my father is an exceptional bow maker, however I expect this from any bow we make. The trick is the sinew backing I would do it to any bow I make even if I didn’t have the materials at the time I made it I would do it later.
I thought of another question last night that I don’t know how to answer: How tight do we usually tighten the cord?
