hey,

in case there are any lurkers in victoria here is some info about some local projects.

The Devil’s Club - Community Apothecary

located at camas books and infoshop (www.camas.ca), the apothecary is a by donation herb dispensary that is stocked regularly with locally harvested medicinal herbs. reference books are on the bottom shelf and there is a herbalist Q&A every saturday from 12 - 2pm (ongoing atleast until early may).

Plant Walks.

there are a number of plant walks scheduled for the next couple months. they will be located around town and out in langford at the tree sit (http://treesit.blogspot.com). a schedule will be posted inside the doors of the apothecary. will be starting soon. by donation.

other things that are coming up: medicine making workshops, presentation on herbal abortion, hide tanning workshops, native resistance/anti-2010 goings on… etc. everything is by donation.

for more information just pm me or check in with camas as most things are either happening there or there will be flyers at the shop/apothecary.

Victoria? I’m near Grand Forks, BC. Who is teaching hide tanning there?

I am, and janette (skalopsky) will probably help. That workshop is more so because it seems as though I am the only one in the local anarchist community who tans hides, and I have been having quite a few people asking me to show them how lately. Most of my experience thusfar is in furs and barktan, so I will probably look at that more than buckskin.

Cool! I always like to meet other hide tanners. Especially if they are reasonably close by. I used to come to the Victoria area quite a bit but unfortunately the folks I visited there have moved up to Terrace so I haven’t been to the island in a couple of years. Have fun with that, hope you get a good turn out and it goes well.
