My collapse

DISCLAIMER: I can’t write in an organized way.

Here’s how I think it will happen:

Our major problems that we see today that will destroy us:

Population problem
Climate change
Disease

We need FOOD to support 6 billion people, we need ROOM for 6 billion people, we need TREES for our houses and anything else you can think of, we need metal for cars and we need OIL, we need LAND to grow the food.

As most of us know, we have a population problem. we have a population problem because we have a growing problem, we grow lots of food. heres teh paradox:
Each increase in food production leads to an increase in population that can’t be supported by that last increase in food production. So we increase the food production again, which then leads to a still greater increase in population. so on, and so forth.

Scientists have predicted that the earths maximum carrying capacity for humans is 11 billion. sadly, our population will double in 35 years. A doubling of our population would mean there are 12 billion humans on the earth.

what does this mean? having twice as many humans?

twice as much bio-mass has been changed from being apart of other organisms in the biosphere to being only apart of humans. more specifically this means, our bio-mass has to come from somehwere, it comes from other living things. picture the exinctions today, -and double it.
picture the amount of land we use to grow food -double it
picture the amount of wood we use today -double it
picture the amount of trash we produce today -double it
picture the amount of gas we use today -double it
picture the amount of space we need today -double it
picture the amount of fresh water we need today -double it.
picture the rate at which environments are being destroyed -double it.

we simply don’t have the room, we dont’ have the room to house 12 billion people on this planet and we surely don’t have the land to grow the food needed to sustain 12 billion.

our population problem alone is enough to force a collapse, through a war of resources and a collapse of governments. but that isn’t it.

climate change is affecting us and the environment drastically. the ecological world is already greatly stressed by our destruction of it. climate change is causing widespread disruption to environmental systems across the planet. climate change will never destroy the world or all life on this planet no way, but it will affect us ina great way and propell us towards disaster.

climate change affects different regions in different ways, but i will use africa as an example becuase it is already seeing the harsh realities climate change can cause.

Africa’s population has been growing exponentially for some time now. ever since we intorduced them to farming. climate change has caused large scale drought. the people cannot farm, and cannot raise livestock. africa is starving. climate change is effecting our ability to grow food. and as time goes on it iwill get worse, and will start effecting more and more nations and their ability to grow food.

Climate change is not stable, it is getting worse the more we pump gases into the atmosphere and the more we cut down trees. the destruction of forests for wood and land tio grow food will double when our population does. and our gas emmisions? -double.
what will this mean to climate change? idunno specifically, but …double as bad? probably.

lets jump ahead to the future to 2042, our population is 12 billion…what do you expect to see? i don’t want to picture it. we might not even make it that far. i think iwth a population of 12 billion, no more land, no more room, hardly any trees, and climate change becoming a monster, mass starvation, war, exodus and disease will set in. the end is nigh.

with twice as much bio-mass going to humans as before we’ll have that much less of other organisms, we’ll be in a period of super-mass-exintions, and the ecological structure that sustain life ion all sides of the planet will start to collapse due to our destructin and climate change.

the 3rd world countries will fall first, (we are seeing them holding on now, like in africa)
there will be billions of displaced and starving people. an exodus will take place by people from collapses nation to ones still sustaining. there will be a combination of war and co-operation by nations for food/water and other resources, most nations however will simply collapse.

nations will collapse because the farmers stopped farming, people dont’ need to work because they can’t buy food anymore. the stucture of their government systems will collapse, money is useless if you can’ tbuy food with it.

what going to make these problems worse?
Disease.

today we are seeing drug resistant strains of terrible terminal diseases such as TB, which is airborne. since the introduction of anti-biotics in the 1900’s humans have been consistantly weakening their immune systems while simultaniosly strengthening the diseases (through natural selection.)

with the world overcrowded and in chaos disease will take hold and spread quick due to bad sanitation, lack of clean water, and very poor nutrition (starving). not to mention no systems intact to administer medicine, this will be our final down fall.

its not going to be pretty thats why i don’t want it to happen, we need to move foreward just think:
civilization is NOT mans ultimate achievement and CAN be surpassed.

if collapse happens billions will be starving and looking for food, in an environment that would have very little food now due to us. i dont’ think i’d have a very good chance at surviving regardless if i can make a snare to catch a rabbit, what will that matter if there is no rabbit to catch?
