I am also interested in any gatherings in Pennsylvania, and surrouding states like New York, Ohio, West Virginia, and Virginia.
I was really considering going to the MAPS meet this year. I’ve decided against it because it’s on the east coast… and everything else I’m doing this summer is on the west coast. If I was a pro at traveling alone I’d go.
I’d really like to hear how it is though. I read that this year they are bringing some new elements into the gathering focusing on women. Rad!
The registration for this meet is closed but I got on the wait list and reserved two places. I’ve already paid for both of them and now I am looking for a friend to go too so if anyone wants to meet me there it would really awesome. It is $195, but since I’ve already paid, if you can’t afford it, well, we can work something out. Go east coast!
I attended MAPS Meet 2006, and it was pretty fuckin’ cool. Especially with everyone gathering for all kinds of fun shit each evening.

You are so close Ulcerite! You should go. I haven’t found anyone who wants to go with me yet, so if you want the space but don’t have the cash you could pay me over time, or barter something…
They’ve closed registration, last time I checked. That’s the other reason I can’t go!
Yeah, it is closed but what I’m saying is that I already registered for two people and so far only I am going. So we would just have to meet outside with my confirmation paper or give them other other name I put down or something. If you wanted to.

How was MAPS?
MAPS was great. I learned all sorts of stuff, failure free! Boy I need that. I was surprised how many families were there. Definitely not your anti-civ crowd…or were they? Someone was mentioning how a bunch of the guys there are hardcore survivalists, they just keep it on the DL. Maybe it’s the same with the anarcho primitivists. Anyway I hope to attend MAPS next year and I think I could teach a class or six.

Were there women’s specific classes this year?
There were actually not any women specific classes. I think the woman who was going to do that didn’t arrive until late. If you come next year we could hold a women’s class together!
