Any one gathering free pumpkins from side of road?
there’s a patch across the street, with plenty of yummy ones. We’re to the point where we are sick of them, and people’s green tomatoes they have left to the birds. And to think, two weeks ago, I used to LOVE fried green tomatoes.
Why don’t people plant anything other than tomatoes anymore?
Because tomatoes are so EASY to grow! They are also a “cash” crop… and to think, people used to think they were poisonous!
With farming there’s just less diversity to begin with. that’s the problem (well, one of them anyway)… That’s why I am all for personal gardens wich include a variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and medicinal flowers. That’s what I am going to do this next season! I have got access to a large gardening area at my parents’ and am going to grown a wide range of veg, fruit, herbs, med. flowers…
I am going to browse around here for a topic discussing gardening vs. foraging vs. farming… these are my main interests.
