Firefly Gathering

http://www.fireflygathering.org/

The Firefly Gathering (skills for living with the earth) is happening
Friday, June 27- Monday, June 30 about 8 miles from Asheville, NC at a
family farm. The cost is very reasonable, $75-150 sliding scale for
the entire event, or $25-50 sliding scale for a day pass. This
gathering will be a family friendly place for people to explore
traditional and sustainable ways of living with each other, and as
integrated part of the web of life. There will generally be two
workshop slots a day with several classes occurring concurrently during
each slot. In the evenings we will have a central campfire, where
stories, drumming, and dancing will be shared. A few of the classes we
plan to offer are primitive pottery, fire by friction, bow making,
outdoor survival skills, debris shelter making, basket making,
medicinal and edible plant walks, blacksmithing, and homesteading 101.
We hope to see you in June!

i’m hoping to make this. it depends on whether i can get friends to come to help me with my two wild children! if i can, we’ll definitely be there. if i can’t, we probably won’t. i can’t cope with the two of them alone haha.

i was really wanting to go (i had already agreed to lead some awareness games with children), but our financial sitcheashion aint allowin for it, as we’re fixin to move cross-country again.

and tracy, there might be some childcare exchange there. you should look into it

hope yall have fun

as of right now, it looks like we going!

my friends got on the work exchange and arrive thursday. whoot!

i feel both excited and nervous. first gathering jitters haha.

tracy

i just got back…it was WONDERFUL!!!

tracy, it was great to see y’all and seeing gianna sing with doug was precious.

hey charly

we had such a blast! firefly was my first gathering and we will definitely be going to more (falling leaves in october?) i got to eavesdrop a little on one of the cordage classes so now know (roughly) how to get and make cord from the downed tulip trees in my yard, and a gourd class where i picked up some seeds, so by next spring, i will have gourd bowls and cups in the house.

everyone always knows my kids hahaha. sometimes i take that as a compliment ;D

thanks for helping patch up loke’s foot. i hope he now realises jumping in the flint pit is a bad idea. reva and thomas really enjoyed your guerilla medicine class.

thanks, charly. see you soon.
