Fear

Anybody else suffer from permanent anxiety and/or fear ? What makes it so? how do you cope?

Well, I wouldn’t call it permanent, but I’ve had chronic anxiety for a while–for a couple years in college, then after graduating I didn’t feel anxious for about a year, but when I entered grad school it came back with a vengeance. Since then, I’ve continued to feel anxiety–sometimes more, sometimes less. When I don’t watch myself, it creeps up on me. It can be a vicious cycle if I let anxiety prevent me from making choices that will help me feel less anxious.

Thank you for that chance to think about it.

I’ve coped in different ways. In the past, buying stuff was one way I coped, although I cut up my credit cards and now I look for different ways. Music is probably one of the best ways now — that and journaling (which I need to do more often). Cooking as well (though I’m not always in the mood to cook). Really, anything that I like which feels comfortable and familiar helps me deal with anxiety.

I don’t believe the anxiety will go away until I find surroundings where I find belonging and acceptance.

Hi !

The world we live in, I’d say is more than enough to make one feel less than good.
I sure as hell ain’t a specialist but all that this civilization “offers” is destabilizing to say the very least.

I found that I too am feeling a sense of uneasiness, most times unconsciously and at others consciously. I don’t always feel that way though, but it’s still too much stress. And as you know, long periods of stress can be very debilitating.

This present dominant and totally fucked up way of life is totally destructive in its very design, essence, and in all of its aspects so perhaps we are reminded by our conscience and/or subconscience that it’s even worse than we think or pretend in our daily lives! I wonder !

I find that focusing my attention on something else works, but certainly doesn’t make civilization disappear…well kind of, but you know what I mean. I also find that focusing my attention on fighting “it”, or in other words becoming the predator instead of the prey can be quite empowering ! Focusing on building alternative ways of life works for me also.

Your wondering why you feel this way? Have you noticed that ALOT of people feel this way? My question is… is this a symptom or do you instinctivly know something is wrong? I choose the latter… Something is wrong… thats why we are all here! I worry about those that don’t feel it.
