I personally think that civilization is going to crash slowly.
Look at the past thousand years.
haha, think of all the old timers claiming every newfangled thing will be the “downfall of western civilization”. I see in novels written around WWI and II a very suspicious stance towards civilization and predictions of it’s collapse and I think “man people were predicting the end a long time ago and they were wrong. I might be wrong too.” But if you think it has been crashing slowly all this time than they were right.
I know it will be a slow crash just by the very fact that in every age of human history I have seen countless variations of apocalypses.
I personally hope civilisation crashes by tommorow morning. Then I can get on with living life, the natural way!!

I am certain that if a U.S. monetary confidence crisis (and ensuing food riots) happens this coming spring quickly followed buy a flu pandemic Civs will organize around strong local leaders (like in the Jericho TV show). They will have the power to roam the country side. But why go farther than farm raiding? After all the farms succumb, probably in the first few years, they will increasingly prey on each other.
You might believe there were more gun fights in the anarchy of the American Wild West than at a Rainbow gathering, but I don’t. People with guns are very careful of each other and this breads politeness. The politest place I’ve ever been is Colorado (excluding Denver). I present this modern example… I had a friend in the late seventies who served in 'Nam for 4 years. He claimed the forces willing to fight to the death on either side (about 10% of the warriors) AVOIDED EACH OTHER AT ALL COSTS because if they ever met in the jungle they would kill each other to the last man. No one wanted that.
I expect similar behavior after the fall. I think the tactic of not having anything worth stealing is the best one. If you want to garden plant things others may not recognize as food, like cannas, day lilies, chestnut oaks, lambs quarter, groundnut…
The groups of rewilders gathering around the edges of national forests and BLM land to form neighborhoods of wildcrafting permaculturists might have an excellent chance of survival, especially if they are willing to band together and fight back hard enough to make it not worth the raiding parties while. Resistance is not futile!!! Lone nomadic families in the bush will be ignored if they stay far enough from HQ. There should be “grapevine news” from wandering loners to give everyone up to date info on hoard activities.
Just trying to tie a few thoughts in.
Resistance is not futile!!!
I can’t remember where, but I saw a permaculturist bumpersticker that said “Resistance is Fertile!”
YOUR SEED SHALL NOT TOUCH THE EARTH
maybe semen and she cum make great fertilizer. Like Richard Prior said “everything else my father told me was a lie” they are great natural remedies for sore throat (she cum anyway;-}
