Ai was rather disturbed when ai read this and mai first instinct was to buy more canned food. However, ai decided to run it by mai dad (a much more informed person than me on many topics). He says that the vast majority of corn does not go directly to human food anyway, but that most of it is animal feed and food additives (high fructose corn syrup). Both of which can be substituted for, but with more costly things. So, worst case senario from this: some people die from lack of heating in their house; meat, dairy, candies and soy products (the article also mentions worse soy production) are more expensive. Unless we are both missing something?

it seems though, that all those factors will contribute to higher prices for MOST things that people consume. it is really hard to avoid corn and soy products. if they have to be substituted, food costs will rise across the boardish.
