Edible Plants book

So I have a gift certificate at chapters and I was looking for a wild plants book. I was thinking of getting http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Identifying-Harves-Steve-Brill/9780688114251-item.html?ref=Search+Books%3a+%2527steve+brill%2527
but I was wondering what people think is the best edible plants book out there.

Matt,
I recommend looking for something that is specific to your area or an area that you will be spending time in. Look to see if there is something published by Lonepine for S. Alberta. or for the N. Rockies if you will be spending time in the mountains. Lonepine has published some really good ones for B.C.

Or maybe an ethnobotany of the Stoney, Sarcee (Tsu tiina sp?), Siksika, Peigan or Blood people would be interesting.

I have a book for identifying plants in Alberta. What I am looking for is something that has extensive information on uses and qualities, something I’ve never found in a local book.

Thanks for the links victor.

hey there-

I have looked at a lot of edible plant books because I am obsessed with both plants and books.

This is one that I picked up recently and so far think is great:

It has no ID info, but does have much more extensive use info than I have seen in almost any other wild plants book. This just came out last year and in the back it says that the author is working on a follow up volume called “Using Wild Plants”
