If one were to continuously collect animals at one place within a larger habitat, how could the take be maximized over time? I assume some species will become educated to some traps or hunting methods.

I would think that it would be rather difficult to hunt an area for extremely long. The one reason hunter gatherers were successful was because of their ability to change areas in which they hunted, being nomadic. That could be difficult for a lot of people these days, with all the civilization. However, it also would depend on the species being hunted. For example if there is not as much need for larger game and the abundance of small game such as rabbits, racoons, fish and other animals, then that could extend the time possible of dwelling in one place.
