Has anyone ever used a blowgun to hunt?It seems like a good silent way to get small game
my brother and I used to make blowguns from old pvc pipes. At first we made darts with shiskabob skewers with cotton balls duct taped on. These would fly about 80 yards with a strong blow and were more than sufficient for frog huntin’.
Later, we used sharpened wire, and we had to use pliers to pull them out of trees. Although frogs legs are quite delicious, they aren’t even as filling as squirrel, and I don’t really think it’s worth taking their life for such a small delicacy. I never got a rabbit or a duck with the blowgun, and I imagine you’d need some sort of poison unless you have really good aim or could get a couple shots in. Does anyone know how to prepare a poison paste for blowguns?
I just saw a video of a guy taking down a squirrel with a home made blowgun. The site is www.geocities.com/blowgunhunter/ he gives instructions for making a blowgun and darts.
