anyone want to get together and …live life…, explore, laugh, cry even, while maybe spending wild time in the wild, or anywhere?
maybe we can do some regular meetups and share skills, knowledge, experiences.
anyone up for it?

Heck yeah! …in a few months… I don’t live in Asheville yet, but I anticipate moving there soon. I’ve a few more chains to break.
Since you posted a while ago, have you met up with anyone? Got groups going?
I was impressed by an Ashville Gathering that I stumbled upon while wandering the web, called the 2nd Annual Camas Cookout, where about 20 peope gathered together in April 2004 to learn about the history of camas, dig up camas bulbs, wash and prepare them, and then bake them in a pit oven. I was wondering if there was a 6th annual Camas Cookout in April 2008? Check out the website, which has great photos and even some videos.

OMG!! :o I just realized that the Camas Cookout was in AshLAND Oregon, a long ways from Ashville NC (or is that OH, NY, AL, or PA). Well if you have Camas growing wild around Ashville this might spark an Annual Camas Cookout there!

tanning, outdoor survival skills, debris shelter making, primitive
weaponry, trapping, felting, spinning, wilderness awareness, medicinal and
edible plant walks, and blacksmithing.
The cost is very reasonable:
Adults (age 14 and above) will be charged $75-150 sliding scale for the
entire event, or $25-50 sliding scale for a day pass;

Weed-Lady, Mollie will soon be sharing her wildcrafting know-how in
her summer Weed-Shop and Fun Shop.
Wildcrafting in Western North Carolina can be good exercise and this
is one of the best places on the planet for gathering pristine nutritious plants,
healing herbs and yummy wild foods.
On Saturday, June 28, 2008, select applicants can discover weed eating,
grubbing and foraging as a real life wild crafter. Weed Lady’s Harvest
class, will not overwhelm a new student with huge numbers of edible
plants and herbs.
Mollie chooses to focus on a lower but still fairly good number of readily
found and easily identifiable plants for her foraging classes. This increases
a new student’s confidence and starts them properly. Taraxacum officianles,
Stellaria media, Urtica and Laportea sounds a bit scary but there’s only a little
talk of genius and species. Her class will focus on discovery and the
joy of learning and perhaps some delightful weed songs.
Foraging for Food can mean Having Fun and Saving Money
You can look forward to Mollie sharing her special approach to wildcrafting
in her summer weed workshop. Mollie has an eye for both herb safety and nature
conservation, keeping a sharp eye on protecting endangered plants, too.
More and more folks are discovering the mind-set of abundance:
getting free, delicious, and nutritious foods in the wild.
What you get from nature’s cupboard is many times more nutritious than
anything you get at a grocery store.
With room left for just seven herb enthusiasts, the class includes a
wild gourmet meal. Participants will be gathering their own lunch,
the menu, not final yet, as mother nature can offer up her own
surprises BUT it’s a menu
sure to delight one and all.
Call Mollie to reserve you space at her
wildcrafter’s Weed-Shop fun-shop at: http://www.wellnessweeds.com/
On Saturday, June 28, 2008
(I just heard from Mollie that she has two spaces for her fun shop)
