I’ve read a few bits here and there about using animal organs (stomachs and bladders, specifically, but sometimes intestines) as water and other liquid (fat) containers. What I haven’t been able to find is how one goes about preparing/preserving a stomach to hold water. Suggestions? Ideas?
I’ve heard of intestines being really thoroughly cleaned out, then smoked to make waterproof bags. I bet that would work for stomachs, too. Treating with tannins might help, too.
treating with tannins turns stomachs into leather. i wouldn’t recommend using it for a water sac, better suited as a backpack.
They are already prepared from natures side, no need to mess with that, just clean and use.
