Thanksgiving Address

This is a spiritual/social tool I was given via Jon Young, which he received from the iroquois.

If you take the time everyday to go through the thanksgiving address and really focus on these things both in your “minds eye” and your normal senses, it really opens you up to hearing from other-than-humans. The Kamana program has a really good section on it. I used to do the “TGA” every morning to my backyard. It worked well to set my awareness of other-than-humans for the whole day.

here is one example I found online:

and what happens to native cultural tools:

some books about it:

I’ve seen it in Kanien’kéhaka, and even Ska-Ruh-Reh, and I think I saw it online somewhere else in Onundagaono, but this doesn’t help me very much. My Tuppeek-hanne is just south of the Onondowahgah, so it’s Onondowahgah I’m trying to learn. If anyone knows where I can find the Thanksgiving Address in Onondowahgah (a.k.a., “Seneca”), it would really help me start to learn the language, and the language of my Tuppeek-hanne.

Maybe if you went to upstate NY or S. Ontario to one of the Six Nations res. and presented the appropriate person with some gifts, expressed your desire to learn and explained why and what you want to do with it, they would teach you.
Then you would have their blessing and backing in what you are doing with their prayer and there would be no question about appropriation.

I did get in touch with the Faithkeepers School, but they’re really focused on teaching Seneca to young Seneca. They didn’t really have the time or resources to help some random white guy.
