Introductions

Id like to welcome! all the new people stumbling on these forums lately. Good to have you here !

Hello. My name is Jacob (but most people call me Ghost). Living on a hippie-commune in Virginia, right now. It’s been a dream of mine to live a simple, self-reliant lifestyle immersed in nature, since I was a kid. Hoping to leave the farm and head up to the north-wisconsin wilderness, some time this winter (but plans aren’t set in stone yet).

Hope everyone is doing well.

-Ghost

Howdy ya’ll!! I’m Don. Been a very simple person most of my life, until money ruined me. Well, I over came that misdirection, and have gone back to my roots. I am caught somewhere between a “Doomsdayer” and “Rewilder”. This materialistic world disgusts me, and I yearn for the coming cleansing it needs. I truly believe that TEONWAWEK is just around the corner. I have been preparing for sometime, and have transforming my property in the mountains into an off grid, self-sustaining retreat. Most don’t understand me, no matter how much I try to get them to open thier eyes. I pity them

Welcome aboard, new people!

Heya folks.

I want to avoid saying too much about myself here, knowing how often things change, but:

Keith, 22, suburbs of Philadelphia. A couple years ago, my pseudo-religious belief that the world would end turned into a pseudo-scientific belief that maybe just civilization would end. Good news. During that time I went from bomb-shelter survivalist fantasies to permaculture anarcho-primitivist ones. Then I found you guys. I spent some time outside, and now in many ways I view rewilding as a vehicle for self-reliance, the famed aversion of conformity. This community and its members have helped shape my outlook for the better, and it seems fitting to thank you for it in this introduction. Thanks.

My hobbies and interests include banjo, guitar, and carpentry. I’d like to get into luthiery and gardening. Energy issues interest me a great deal. I admire people who live life like an adventure.

Thanks for the official intro Keith. Good to have you here!

Hi, I’m seven.
I’m a college student in great barrington, MA; during the summers I tend to be in south central PA.
I like adventures. And I can juggle. If you ever need to know more than that, just ask ;D

Yay! Another New Englander!

Hello! My name is Jeff I live in Central Tx. I like to hunt, fish, camping, anything outdoors. I like to walk the tracks looking for bones, skulls.Ihave been into survival skills, primitive tech and self reliance.I practice whenever I have the chance.

People call me John. I recently turned 20, and I live in the northeast US. I just stumbled upon rewilding, and I want to learn more.

Wellcome, Jeff and John! Ai hope we can all learn something together!

Welcome sweetwilliered and talkingjay!

talkingjay, I hope you’re able to sometime come to one of the gatherings we’re trying to put together in the New England area. If you’d like to join the Rewild New England email list, the link is in my signature.

hello there,my name is butter of the age 24 and im here because i want to absorb and spread knowledge on living closer to our natural environment .it has been a long time since the childhood where i told my parents i was going to live in the trees eating nuts and berries, and it took dumpsters and trashcans to get me this close, ive still got a few rungs left on the ladder to get to full on,but could learning ever be completed?.i am a traveler at heart currently living in olympia washington in a cedar lined pit hidden among the salal and sword ferns but dont tell the land owner!i am in love with everything and try to work with it,every flower has its pollinators, and some flowers are dumpsters or diseases.i hope to think less and do more and i am here for refraction and reflection.feedback is healthy

My name is Ethan, I am 22 years old and live in the USofA.

Since I graduated from college in May I have been making long-term plans for my life. I have never really done this because I found being enrolled was a suitable excuse for me not to. Now I am finding my chosen field of study (religion) has little practical application in life outside of school. I am looking into taking horticulture classes at the local community college, though I am dismayed by the program’s focus on ornamental plants and landscaping.

I have never been a fan of the capitalist system, nor most attempts at socialism. For that matter, I have long thought that the Agricultural Revolution was a mistake, but did not come to question civilization until recently. I find sustainability to be a pretty satisfying principle with which to organize my life. I don’t know whether it has actually been getting worse, but I am fed up with the corporate green-washing of the past year or so. As if corporate supply chains could possibly be sustainable!

About the time the recession began last Fall/Winter I started reading about survivalism. I have always expected the capitalist system to collapse, but had not ever considered what I would do to prepare for it. Though survivalism appealed to my sense of individualism, it didn’t quite satisfy my post-liberal values. A few months ago I read Ishmael, which addressed many of the concerns I had, but lacked the fact-based substance of a non-fiction work. A few weeks ago I chanced upon two zines titled “Post-Civ!” and “Post-Civ!, A Deeper Exploration”, which can be found at http://www.tangledwilderness.org . These succinct documents describe almost identically the vision I have arrived at, a reconciliation between anarcho-primitivism and the admittedly few good things to have come out of civilization. Currently I am reading Endgame, which I find to be challenging and rewarding.

My plan at present is to learn and implement permacultural techniques. I have been reading up on the relationship between permaculture and rewilding, specifically on Urban Scout’s blog and Anthropik.

Hello everyone! Hi Urban Scout.

I live in the DelMarVa area. I eat RAFs. :D Happy to be here.

Happy New Year!

With love,

RawZi

Nusabo/Ethan,

So much useful information here, I had to join. You guys kick ass. I live in Bellingham, WA. I am a member of the Sushi tribe (any other sushi tribe on here?)
I forage plants like I’m a stoned cow, except I forage roadside meats occasionally, and sometimes even food bank meat. I’ve been studying natural medicine for 10 years, and even just got arrested for growing natural medicine. I’m currently on the internet avoiding reality because my reality may involve jail time, court fees, and finding my hippie ass a real job (which I could potentially do on the internet).
I believe that the only way to change the world is through good intentions and prayer.
Just kidding! you can put down your spears now. excuse me for trying to be funny

intentions can be useful sometimes, but, even Martin Luther King Jr said, “those who make non-violent revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.” Sometimes you just need to defend yourself. If you think you’re a pacifist, or want a better critique of pacifism, please read Pacifism as Pathology by Ward Churchill. It’ll only take an hour and is way easier than getting your privileged head beat in by riot cops.
If any of you come by the Bellingham area, I’ll be posting about some skill shares, and permaculture events, send me a note if you want, lets get wild!

Welcome, Mugwort! The Sushi tribe sounds like it has deliciousness potential, but alas, I have already been taken hostage by the TrollSplinters, damn them all.

Last year there was a skill share near Bellingham and lots of people came. I for one would love to hear more about the events you have planned and I think you may find yourself surprised by the turnout!

-Eve TrollSplinter, Apasionada del Yermo (nĂƒÆ’Ă‚Â©e: Rebecca)

PS. I just watched the movie Seven Samurai tonight. Talk about a reversal of pacifist tendencies!

Welcome Mugwort! Ai second the plug for Pacifism as Pathology! And illegal healers.
PIG: WHAT WHAT! Who said that??
