Bioremediation

Unless some chemical corp grabs a sample and plays with it until they have a microbe the eats carbs and shits nylon. In some ways I hope that bio-engineering (or nanotech, honestly, at that scale the difference between a machine and a microbe is the presence of a few carbon atoms) has enough time ot get a good start before the crash, so that we get all these new kinds of life in our ecosystems to replace the diversity we killed off.

Perhaps a tradition we should start someday might involve a few brave warriors occasionally taking earthen vessels filled with the remains of these cleanups and depositing them into deep mines.
