This Equinox weekend, September 19th-21st harvesting our inner knowledge, and celebrating our growth this year, We’re holding a Healing Arts Skillshare at the Porcupine Palace, in northern Washington state, south of Bellingham.
Calling upon any one interested in exploring and sharing healing in all it’s many forms; body workers, therapy, art therapy, movement therapy, energy work, sexuality, anxiety/depression, diet, nutrition, first aid, dis eases, doulas and midwifery, doctors, brewing, herbalism, magic, medicine making, wild crafting, radical mental health, gardening, meditation, yoga, ecopsychology… Healing and health care means lots of things, lets open up our deep inner wisdom
This gathering will be based on the principles of “Open Space,” if you have a workshop idea, or skills to offer, or something you hope to learn or teach, post it up and see what our community can create! We believe that one of the key pieces in a permanent culture is empowering ourselves and our communities to take all forms of health, medicine, and self-care into our own hands.
Some of the workshops offered-- accupressure and menstruation, self therapy, plant medicine walks, intuitive herbalism, medicinal animal parts, flower essences, massage, yoga, local plant id, plant processing- tinctures, oils, salves etc.
Have something funny going on with your body? There will be space to ask each other questions, and discover all the special tricks we’ve picked up to take care of ourselves.
This gathering is free of charge. We’re asking everyone to bring as much food and water (we have a creek, and water filters, but sometimes the filters don’t do so well when there’s a big gathering), knowledge and supplies to share as they can. If money is something you have an abundance of, it can help with food and paying for supplies… like alcohol for tincures.
The land hasn’t been occupied by humans for too long. We poo in an outhouse, wash in the creek, and sleep outside, there are many beautiful spots to set up beautiful outdoor sleeping spaces. There are a few structures, with indoor sleeping space for folks with special needs.
There is a creek that runs along the property, flowing into a beaver pond, and trails leading to Blanchard Mountain, where there are two lakes. It is mixed 3rd generation (very young) and 2nd growth forest, with big leaf maple, vine maple, cedar, hemlock and doug fir trees, and thick alder woods. We also find devils club, many berries, skunk cabbage… We cross paths with coyotes, porcupines, rabbits, owls, ravens…so many allies.
We have a community kitchen, and we intend to provide nourishing community meals for everyone… exploring different kids of cooking like ayreuvedic food, whole foods, fermented food, raw food.
We need everyone’s participation for this to happen, that means contributing to food supplies, cooking, cleaning, dish washing, praising and massaging the cooks…
We will also need wood hauled, water gathered, trenches dug… and plenty of other tasks.
