Is anyone else completely obsessed with the Democratic primaries?

Fabulous idea, Brian! I posted a new thread about it, including some of my thoughts on what you’ve said.

I have one more comment, which I thought I’d make here, since it wasn’t related to the new thread topic. You said:

I would agree with you in talking about the supporters of Obama & McCain. But while I think McCain and his supporters pretty much think the same thing, I do not feel that way about Obama and his supporters at all. In fact, I would lump Obama in with McCain and his followers, with regard to the fundamentals at least (pro-corporate, pro-free trade, pro-imperialism). And while some of Obama’s supporters think the same, many totally reject these things and politically stand WAAY more to the left than Obama.

I’m only saying this because I feel that we should guard against saying anything that could possibly reinforce the illusions people have in Obama and the Democrats. If people want to support them, fine, but not on the basis of any false assumptions or illusions about them, but instead a clear understanding of their true nature.

Agreed, most politics are unfortunately centrist and wealth driven, and thankfully so far there doesn’t seem to be any major misconceptions by people on this site (Please don’t count me! I swear I’m not an Obamaniac).

P.S. Rewild!!! YES WE CAN… Now that’s hope we can believe in.

If anyone needs convincing that Obama is gonna be more of the same…

oh, and feel free to ignore the subtle “socialist” bent of the article.
