End of Atlanta?

If it matters to anybody when I first came to this thread I didn’t come here to e-prime anything, I came here to do what I did in the first place: point out that hidden “to be” I saw.

However, I changed my mind and want to get in on this e-primin alil’.

Perfect, no hidden “to be” or anything and it only has 7 words not 18. Sweet!

I believe ‘one’ works to in the place of ‘you,’ which turns it into, “one feels pain, yet (but) chooses suffering,” and that way makes the word count back down to 6.

;D Yes you did [j’k]; I donno, like I said I just started this stuff. No hard feelings or I don’t think I would have ask for insight.

Peace.

No hard feelings :D. I still think that my translation stands, although I like the ones others have come up with, too.

I value pain because it teaches a lesson. Usually it’s something like "don’t do that again, a warning you’ve overstepped your bounds. Pain is also a powerful motivator. Of course, reward is even better, but if pain didn’t help you survive, we wouldn’t feel it.

So my version of the quote would be :

“Pain teaches a lesson, you only suffer if you don’t learn.”

But that changes the meaning a bit.

So I do wish pain on people who overstep their bounds. That includes me. Actually, I don’t “wish” it, because it comes. I wish there was no way for them to pass the pain off, or ignore it, so that they had to address the cause instead of the symptoms. I wish that people had to deal with the consequences of their actions instead of being able to aviod them. That also includes me.
