lol, yeah, we don’t have cable (btw, have you ever seen a cable salesmans face when you say “We don’t have cable.”? priceless, but I digress…), so whenever we go to a friends place or over to family we have this problem too.
something else you can do that kids like (usually more the girls…) is pick the yellow flowers with a length of stem, then split the stem and either tie around their finger as a ring, or tie a bunch of them into a necklace.
But then, thinking about it, you probably already knew that…

“On one day, every person in the world goes out and digs up all the dandelions in his yard at the very same time. Then there’d be no dandelions to go to seed and send their evil little parachutes out into the world. It would solve the dandelion problem forever. No one would ever have to weed again! Assuming everyone got the roots. You have to get all the root, or the damn thing grows back.”

well, fortunately for use, dandelions are even more difficult to eradicate than stated. Fukuoka-san made an excellent point in his “Natural Farming” about plowing literally sowing weed seeds that have been sitting dormant in the soil. Life is awfully hard to wipe away…
A lot of people have reported success with a mostly monoculture lawn using clover (no chemicals). Oh, wait, clover’s a weed. Wait, why…?
Actually it’s not even her reason for not wanting to, it’s just her reason for why you couldn’t do it. Which is even more pathetic.
And here’s the gold…
It’s amazing how one-dimensional some people’s perspectives are, and it’s so frustrating when they’re otherwise intelligent people…
Actually quite a good idea, any particular date in mind?
You want me to delete some of my pics, Wilderex? huh? Delete your shit first or how about getting a more up-to-date computer, T-Rex. lol/Just kidding hahaha. I may make the pics smaller or do you got any other ideas, friend?
So Nick wants to plant a deer forage mix and I am concerned about invasive weeds. Most of the plants in those mixes (usually a variety of clovers, brassicas, rye grass, chicory, etc. ) are not native to the area. Even if they are not invasive per se wouldn’t it be nice to plant native plants that the deer like? Ones that are sort of diminishing in abundance? But what would those be? I don’t think a mix like that exists on the market. Maybe it would be good to just go with the weeds. I could eat them too after all. Am I just buying into the prejudice wanting real native plants?
The thing that reminded me most of this thread was that the Mossy Oak website sells these weed mixes for deer forage and directly underneath them sells a weed killer for killing these same exact weeds in your corn/soybean only deer forage. Of course you have to have planted round-up ready corn and soybeans. Honestly! It’s just like with cows and people and everything else. You can spend a lot of time and money fighting the weeds and have fat, but poorly nourished round-up ready deer or a lean mineral dense deer.

Actually, I never tried that when I was a kid. I did rub buttercup petals on my arms to make them all yellow, though…
Well, I meant when she was pointing out that a lot of people wouldn’t go along with the plan, the only people she could imagine not agreeing would be the shotgun redneck type, refusing to participate because it’s THEIR land. She doesn’t really think of anyone disagreeing for any other reason.
